Cowes is often referred to as the hub of the Solent, with its central location, it’s a popular spot for boaters to visit. With several marinas available to choose from in Cowes, we thought we’d show you one that’s nicely tucked a little further up the River Medina.
East Cowes Marina is popular with berth holders and visitors all year round. You can catch sight of a kingfisher or an oystercatcher and still be a short walk from shops and restaurants. Even better, enjoy a lunch overlooking the marina at the Lifeboat pub.
Meet at the Crate Cafe at 9:00 for a short brief of the guided trip. We plan to depart Trafalgar Wharf at 10:00. We plan to depart East Cowes Marina at 13:30 to arrive back at Trafalgar at 15:45.

Situated near the entrance of Southampton Water, the Hamble is home to thousands of boats. The beautiful Hamble village has a heritage of boat building and restoration and has been home to many of the UK’s top sailors.
Packed with an excellent choice of pubs and waterside restaurants, there are plenty of places to berth on the Hamble too. Starting with Hamble Point Marina near the entrance, Port Hamble, Mercury Marina, and leading to Universal and Swanwick Marinas as you explore further upstream.
We will be visiting Universal Marina a little further up Hamble River.

Our guided trips are a great way to get on the water with other Boat Club members whilst familiarising yourself with new boating destinations.
There’s nothing better than boating in good company, and sharing experiences on the water and on shore, so why not join us?
It’s more than your typical seaside resort with hotels and beaches; it’s a thriving, cultural force that feels as real and tangible to those who live there as the pebbles on Southsea Beach. Whilst Gunwharf Quays may have the recognisable bars, restaurants and shopping outlets, Southsea is decidedly more independent. There may be a few big names along Palmerston Road, but most other streets are bursting with independent pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops and more. It’s also a place to get away from the copy-and-paste British High Street, to see something you don’t every day. One main benefit is that, being less than two miles wide and 1.5 miles long, the entire Southsea area is walkable for most. It’s also incredibly flat, meaning those walks feel like a breeze. Not that you’re likely to do it all in one go, of course, as there will be plenty of attractions along the way to pique your interest.
Meet at the Crate Cafe at 9:00 for a short brief of the guided trip. We plan to depart Trafalgar Wharf at 10:00. The harbour is easily accessible, with deep water access at all states of tide.
