At Boat Club Trafalgar, our goal is to simplify and enhance your boating experience. Whether you find yourself visiting the same spots, seeking confidence to venture further, looking for new trip ideas, or eager to meet others who share your passion for boating, our new Passage Planning Workshops are tailored for you.
Join us as we introduce our brand-new Passage Plan Workshops, designed to refine your planning skills and answer any specific questions you might have about reaching certain destinations. Our expert head instructor will lead these workshops, providing a deep dive into the different areas and destinations within the Solent.
On Friday, 1st November, we’ll explore the Central Solent – featuring Hamble – Hamble Point Marina, Port Hamble, Mercury, Universal, and Swanwick.
17:45 – 18:00: Arrival and Setup
18:00 – 19:00: An hour with our head instructor, exploring the chosen destinations. Learn about potential risks, undiscovered spots, and key points of interest.
19:00 – 19:30: Enjoy some food and drinks on us with other members.
19:30 – 19:45: A Q&A session for any of your unanswered questions
19:45 – 21:00: Work alongside other members to create detailed passage plans.

Our guided trips are a great way to get on the water with other Boat Club members whilst familiarising yourself with new boating destinations.
There’s nothing better than boating in good company, and sharing experiences on the water and on shore, so why not join us?
Set on the edge of the New Forest, Lymington is a beautiful harbour to discover. It’s a little further up the Solent than you may have previously ventured making this guided trip the ideal opportunity to brush up on your navigation.
The picturesque river estuary is packed with sailboats, moorings, marinas and private berths, a major south coast centre of boating. The harbour is easily accessible, with deep water access at all states of tide. Exploring up the River you pas will pass the famous Lymington Salt Water swimming baths, the Royal and Town Yacht Clubs, and the iconic Berthons Boat Yard before reaching the refurbished and extended Town Quay. There’ll be time to explore ashore and have a bite to eat.
Meet at the Crate Cafe at 9:00 for a short brief of the guided trip. We plan to depart Trafalgar Wharf at 10:00. The journey will take around 1 hour 30 minutes arriving at Town Quay at 11:45 latest. We will be booking a table for lunch at The Ship Inn. We plan to depart Town Quay at 13:30 to arrive back at Trafalgar at 15:45.

Jump aboard with one of our highly experienced instructors to supercharge your Boat Club membership and extend your operational area into Chichester & Langstone Harbour.
After carrying out this additional training you will be able to explore the tranquil Chichester Harbour with is stunning anchorages, marinas and beaches as well as access to Langstone’s water-ski area, sand bars and wildlife including a large colony of seals.
It opens up Chichester Marina, Sparks Marina, Northney Marina and Southsea Marina to which all have lovely eplaces to eat, explore or even to spend the night alongside.
Chichester Harbour is an AONB (an area of outstanding natural beauty) – the name says it all. You can anchor up off East Head beach, a popular summertime destination or explore the four main channels – up to Emsworth, Prinsted, Bosham and Dell Quay, via Itchenor and Birdham.
This is a free one-day training, except a fuel split between members on board.

This course is designed for those looking to supercharge their existing boating skills. The day will be split to concentrate on training room skills in the morning and on water skills in the afternoon. You have the choice of attending just the morning or afternoon or can book the whole day and do both sessions. The sessions will cover many of the skills first learned on the Powerboat Level 2 training, tailored to areas that you would like to brush up on.
We will concentrate the sessions on what you need to focus and brush up on, but here’s an idea of what could be included in each skills session;

Considered the ‘powerboaters driving license’, this two-day course will teach you everything you need to know about having fun on the water, safely and confidently.
You will be taught a wide range of skills from pre-start checks, boat safety and equipment, coming alongside, picking up a mooring, man overboard and much more. There is an element of theory throughout the course which includes rules of the road, weather and tides, chart work, passage and pilotage planning, buoyage.

Our guided trips are a great way to get on the water with other Boat Club members whilst familiarising yourself with new boating destinations.
There’s nothing better than boating in good company, and sharing experiences on the water and on shore, so why not join us?
Situated near the entrance of Southampton Water, the Hamble is home to thousands of boats. The beautiful Hamble village has a heritage of boat building and restoration and has been home to many of the UK’s top sailors. From here you can even take the bright pink Hamble Ferry across the River to visit Warsash and the Rising Sun pub.
Packed with an excellent choice of pubs and waterside restaurants there are plenty of places to berth on the Hamble too. Starting with Hamble Point Marina near the entrance, Port Hamble, Mercury Marina, and leading to Universal and Swanwick Marinas as you explore further upstream.
We will be visiting Port Hamble Marina which is based right in the heart of Hamble Village.

There’s nothing better than boating in good company, and sharing experiences on the water and on shore, so why not join us?
Southampton Water is a busy commercial waterway for commercial shipping, ferries and cruise liners. Yet outside of the shipping lane it’s a beautiful waterway and there’s plenty to see and do in the city of Southampton too.
Just outside Town Quay there’s plenty of historic buildings and landmark, and the city is packed with maritime history. With the venue for the Southampton International Boat Show next door, this is perfect place to capture the atmosphere of the summer’s yachting events.
Within walking distance of some of Southampton’s best restaurants and bars, and with cinemas, theatres, Southampton’s new Cultural Quarter and Westquay Shopping Centre all nearby, the marina is a vibrant base to stay at any time of the year.
