Beaulieu River is one of few privately owned rivers in the UK. Carefully conserved and under-developed, it’s a stunning haven to visit by boat.
It has remained unspoilt and similar to how it was hundreds of years ago, with a discreet marina and modern facilities. We will travel as far down as Bucklers Hard so that you get to see the wonderful historic village, once an 18th century center of shipbuilding where ships were built for Nelson’s Navy.
The maritime museum within Bucklers Hard is a fantastic place to discover the history of this fascinating village or explore the reconstructed cottage interiors to experience what life would have been like in the 18th century. Enjoy a cream tea at Captains Table or a pub lunch at The Master Builder, it really is a very special boat stop for the whole family.
Meet at the Crate Cafe at 9:00 for a short brief of the guided trip. We plan to depart Trafalgar Wharf at 10:00. The journey will take around 2 hours arriving at Bucklers Hard at 12:00 latest. We plan to depart Bucklers Hard at 14:00 to arrive back at Trafalgar at 16:00.

As the village runs along the coast many of the things to do in Bembridge are related to the sea. The three beaches Lane End, the Ledge and Bembridge Beach are very popular for exploring with contrasting coastlines, rock pools and stunning panoramic views out to sea.
With its substantial harbour, Bembridge is a very popular destination for sailing. On the Lane End Beach, you will find the new Bembridge Lifeboat station which stands offshore to form a striking image.
The natural timber building was only completed in 2010 but has become one of the most iconic and most photographed structures on the Isle of Wight in recent years.
Another of the Isle of Wight’s most recognisable pieces of architecture is Bembridge Windmill, on the outskirts of the village, which is maintained by The National Trust.
A short distance from Bembridge is Culver Down, the white cliffs of which can be seen from Sandown Bay all the way through to Shanklin. Read more about Bembridge…

Yarmouth town is located on the North-West of the Isle of Wight and acts as one of the gateways to the Island with one of the main ferry services operating from its harbour.
The historic port town sits at the mouth of the River Yar and contains some of the oldest architecture on the Isle of Wight, including a 16th-century castle. The harbour at Yarmouth is always very busy with both ferries and smaller boats, and the town itself offers a good variety of things to do for visitors.
The history of the town is very evident as you walk around and a trip along the Grade 2 listed pier is highly recommended for views across The Solent and is also known locally for being a great spot for fishing.
Yarmouth Castle, which is tucked away to the side of the ferry dock, is also a great place for sea views and family picnics during the warmer months.
